01

Start with the hub camp and a roasting fire

Start at the main hub’s existing camp, set your respawn point at its Sleeping Bag, and build a Bonfire with a Rotisserie over it for basic roasting. Light the Campfire beneath the station by adding fuel; cooking pauses when that fire goes out.

02

Gather materials for the equipment you need

Gather Sticks and a Rock for your Bonfire, plus Wood Planks for the Rotisserie. You make this equipment in the Crafting menu, so you can begin with basic roasting before building a Workbench. Leave enough space around your cooking area to reach the fire and collect meals comfortably.

Pick up Leather to unlock the Cooking Table’s crafting recipe. Once you have access to the Leather recipe at a Workbench, 2 Animal Hide make 1 Leather. Reserve Leather for your camp equipment instead of spending it all before you have built the stations you want.

03

Build a working fire and cook your first meal

  1. Craft a Bonfire from 2 Sticks and 1 Rock in the Crafting menu to provide the fire for your cooking area.
  2. Craft a Rotisserie from 2 Sticks and 2 Wood Planks to give your camp a basic station for roasting ingredients.
  3. Add a Mushroom to the Rotisserie to turn it into a Roasted Mushroom while the fire beneath it burns.
  4. Collect the meal when it finishes cooking to avoid leaving it on the Rotisserie long enough to burn.

Recipes for fire, rest and cooking equipment

Make the equipment below in the Crafting menu. Start with the Bonfire and Rotisserie, then add equipment for the meals you want to prepare. Keep the Sleeping Bag available for setting your respawn point as you expand the camp.

Relight the fire when cooking stops

Aim at the Campfire beneath the station when adding fuel. It can display “Bring Wood to light,” “Burn Wood” or “Burning Wood,” depending on its state. Suitable fuels include a Stick, Wood Plank, Bone, Coal or Rotten Food.

If a cooking progress bar stops moving, check the fire before replacing the ingredients. Cooking advances only while the fire beneath the station burns, so loaded equipment can sit idle after its fuel runs out. Add fuel to resume cooking, and keep a spare supply within easy reach.

Check each station’s additional requirements when expanding your camp. The Oven takes one item at a time and needs Coal to burn, while the Kettle needs water before it can brew. Building the equipment is only the setup: make sure it has what it needs before waiting for a result.

06

Prepare your rest area and supplies

Use the Sleeping Bag to set your respawn point, and add a Tent for its separate nearby buff. A Stool gives you somewhere to sit while your meals cook. Arrange these around a cooking area you can navigate comfortably, with access to the fire and storage.

Put food and ingredients in a Food Basket to keep them fresh for longer. Keep your tools and spare fuel accessible before leaving camp, then choose what to carry for the route ahead. Check your meals before departing so you are ready for another expedition.

07

Keep your return point useful

Backpacks stay on your character after death, while items that are not kept go into a death pack. Keep replacement food and fuel at camp so you can prepare before retrieving anything left behind. If a Backpack or death pack falls below the world, check camp or spawn for it.

Use the Backpack to pack belongings when moving your camp to another campsite. Before settling into a new base, check its cooking setup, supplies and Sleeping Bag interaction. Favor a return point whose routes you understand, and restock it before pushing farther into unfamiliar passages.
