A hidden Apparition may be causing the cold
If you keep taking freezing damage beside a lit fire in Deep Dish Dungeon, a hidden Apparition may be responsible. Use a Vision Elixir to check for an invisible enemy, then fight it with the Silver Dagger if one appears.
Distinguish the cold effect from hunger
Look for a snowflake or cold-status effect. Check whether the damage continues after you have eaten and approached a lit fire. If it does, investigate a hidden Apparition instead of automatically blaming hunger or inadequate fuel. Give this check particular attention if the problem began near the observatory.
Treat eating, checking the fire and revealing an enemy as separate checks. Satisfy your immediate food needs before investigating further, then watch whether the cold remains. This gives you a clearer reason to use the elixir without assuming that every instance of freezing has the same cause.
Bring the Silver Dagger
Bring the Silver Dagger before returning to investigate the cold. It sits on an altar behind the Jaguar Door near the start of the dungeon. The Vision Elixir reveals invisible enemies, while the Silver Dagger lets you kill them. Prepare both before committing to a fight.
If you have already collected the dagger but cannot find it, check with the host in a shared world. The host can recover lost treasure through the catalogue, including treasure in another player's inventory. Use that recovery option before repeating the trip to its altar.
Brew an elixir and deal with the Apparition
- Craft a Kettle from 1 Iron Pot and 2 Chains to prepare your potion station.
- Fill the Kettle with water so it can brew the elixir.
- Add 1 Azurea Mushroom to the water-filled Kettle to brew a Vision Elixir.
- Keep the station's fire burning while the elixir brews so cooking can continue.
- Drink the Vision Elixir where the cold follows you to reveal any hidden Apparition nearby.
- Attack any revealed Apparition with the Silver Dagger to deal with the spirit.
- Recheck the cold effect after the fight before continuing along your intended route.
Find a ready-made elixir above the fountain
If you have already turned on the fountain, a chest on the balcony route offers another way to obtain a Vision Elixir. Bring a Grappling Hook to reach it. Choose this option if you would prefer to collect the potion rather than brew it.
- Move to the side of the fountain opposite the previously locked wooden door to locate the balcony above.
- Use a Grappling Hook to reach the balcony and its doorway.
- Go through the balcony door to enter the area beyond.
- Turn left after entering to reach the chest.
- Collect the Vision Elixir from the chest so you can reveal invisible enemies.
If no Apparition appears or the cold continues
If the elixir reveals no Apparition, do not assume the ghost approach will cure the freezing. Recheck your food needs, the lit fire and the cold-status effect separately. Likewise, if the cold persists after a fight, reassess the symptoms before brewing another potion or heading deeper into the dungeon.
