Wild Corn grows beside the fountain
Wild Corn grows beside the fountain on the upper route from the main hub. Clear the rocks with Explosives, then pull the lever by the fountain to turn on the lights and make Corn grow nearby.
Bring tools for the upper passage
Pack a Grappling Hook, the Axe and Explosives for this trip. The hook gets you through the opening above the hub door, the Axe clears roots, and Explosives remove the rocks near the fountain. Leave inventory space for Wild Corn so you can bring the ingredient back for cooking.
Reach the fountain area from the main camp
- Head up the stairs from the main hub camp to the locked wooden double doors. The gap in the roof above the door is the entrance to the upper passage.
- Aim your Grappling Hook at the roof gap until its prompt appears. This identifies the point where you can make a rope into the opening.
- Use the Grappling Hook at the opening to create the rope. You now have a climbable route above the locked door.
- Climb the rope through the roof gap. You will emerge onto the platform beyond the locked door.
- Drop from the platform into the area below. The roots behind you mark the way to the wooden door and a shortcut back toward camp.
- Cut through those roots with the Axe. Clearing them gives you access to the wooden door from this side.
- Open the wooden door to establish the shortcut. This gives you a return route toward the main hub before you continue farther into the area.
- Climb back up the rope you made above the hub door. From the upper route, you can continue left across the pillar.
- Follow the route left across the pillar and through the gold door to the chest. The chest contains crafting materials used for Explosives.
- From the chest, follow the gap behind you upward, then continue along the rocks to the lit area. The rocks in its center are the next obstacle to clear.
Clear the rocks and grow the Corn
- Use Explosives to remove the rocks in the center of the lit area. Clearing this obstruction prepares the area for the fountain interaction.
- Return to the start of this area, beside the fountain. The lever there controls the lights after the rocks have been removed.
- Pull the lever by the fountain. The lights turn on, and Corn grows nearby.
- Harvest the Wild Corn near the fountain. Bring it back as a raw ingredient if you want to make Corn Dough at the Cooking Table.
Cooking unlocks and direct Corn recipes
The Cooking Table unlocks when you pick up Leather, and its recipe uses 2 Wood Planks and 1 Leather. Picking up Wild Corn unlocks the Cooking Pot recipe, which needs 1 Iron Pot and 3 Iron Rods. Build the station for the dish you want before committing your Corn to cooking.
| Recipe | Ingredients, station and result |
|---|---|
| Corn Dough | Combine 1 Wild Corn and 1 Water Bottle at the Cooking Table to make 1 Corn Dough. |
| Pamonha | Combine 1 Wild Corn and 1 Algae at the Cooking Table to make 2 Pamonha. |
| Boiled Corn | Put 2 or 3 pieces of Wild Corn, Roasted Corn, or a mixture of them into the Cooking Pot to make 1 Boiled Corn. |
| Popcorn | Cook 1 Wild Corn in the Skillet for 1 Popcorn. Using 2 Wild Corn still produces only 1 Popcorn. |
| Roasted Corn | Cook 1 Wild Corn in the Oven or on the Rotisserie to make 1 Roasted Corn. |
Keep raw Corn for dough and the final offering
Set aside 1 Wild Corn for Corn Dough if you are working toward the final offering. At the Cooking Table, 1 Corn Dough, 1 Tomato and 1 Cheese make 1 Raw Deep Dish Pizza. Bake that raw pizza in an Oven with Coal to make the Deep Dish Pizza needed for the Offering Plate.
Keep your reserve raw until you have a Water Bottle and are ready to use the dough. Corn Dough spoils and also goes into other recipes, so decide what you want to make before processing the whole harvest. A Food Basket keeps food and ingredients fresh longer; use it for prepared food while planning your next cooking session.
Use surplus Corn for everyday meals after setting aside the ingredient for dough. Choose other vegetables for recipes that accept them, and collect Roasted Corn from the Rotisserie before it burns. Boiled Corn has a stack size of 1, so leave room for the finished dish before cooking extra batches.
