How the Sorting Box works at camp

The Sorting Box in Deep Dish Dungeon holds loose physical objects at camp: drop or throw items into the placed box, then pick them up manually when needed. It does not automatically sort your inventory or open a chest-style storage menu.

Unlock, craft and fill your Sorting Box

  1. Pick up Chains to unlock the Sorting Box recipe. This is the prerequisite to meet before trying to craft the box.
  2. Craft the Sorting Box from 4 Wood Planks in the Crafting menu. It is made by hand, so you do not need a crafting station.
  3. Place the Sorting Box at camp. Choose a convenient spot for unloading supplies when you return from exploring.
  4. Drop or throw the items you want to leave behind into the box. They remain loose physical objects rather than entries in an inventory grid.
  5. Pick up the object you need directly from the box when you want it back. Retrieval is manual, just like putting items inside.

If you need more Wood Planks, the Crafting menu recipe turns 1 Log into 3 Wood Planks. Make the planks before selecting the Sorting Box recipe.

Sorting Box, Food Basket or chest?

Storage option at campHow it stores your supplies

A Food Basket at campSlows spoilage to keep stored food and ingredients fresh for longer.
An ordinary storage chestProvides organized inventory slots for storing and browsing your items.

Keeping food in the Sorting Box

Food lying in a Sorting Box does not spoil: it does not use the spoilage timer applied to food in normal container slots. A Food Basket slows spoilage instead. You still retrieve food from the Sorting Box manually, so its preservation benefit comes with the same hands-on handling as other loose objects.

Choose storage around how you prefer to organize camp. Use a chest when you want to browse supplies in slots, or choose the Sorting Box when you prefer handling loose items directly. Keep the supplies you reach for most in a consistent place to make preparing your next trip easier.
